Edison High School Students Killed in Crash
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (March 7, 2022) –Two teenage boys died in a Huntington Beach car accident Monday at Newland Street and Yorktown Avenue between two motorists.
The two-vehicle crash happened about 8:15 a.m. this morning on March 7th, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.
The drivers of a 1990 Ford F-250 pickup truck and a white 2018 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that is owned by the city of Huntington Beach collided.
It’s unknown at this time what caused the collision.
The teens are brothers and both were critically injured in the crash. Paramedics responded to the scene to transport them to a hospital, but at least one of them succumbed to his injuries. The younger teen later died at the hospital.
The boys are both Edison High School students. They were identified in one report about the collision, but it has not been confirmed by HBPD officials.
Meanwhile, the 38-year-old man driving the city’s pickup truck stopped and is cooperating with the investigation. He was not injured in the crash.
Police closed down the intersection for most of the day to investigate the cause of the crash. Police do not suspect drugs and or alcohol were factors. The police department’s Major Injury Accident Team is heading up the investigation. Witnesses are asked to contact Irvine police Detective R. Solis at 1-949-724-7024.
The city of Huntington Beach is not investigating the Huntington Beach car accident due to the fact that there is a city-owned vehicle involved.
Our thoughts and prayers extend to the family at this very difficult time. There is a vigil scheduled for 6 p.m. tonight at Edison High School.
A Go Fund Me page is raising money to help the family of the two teens.
