HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (Sept. 16, 2024) — A 51-year-old Costa Mesa man riding a motorcycle died Friday in an accident on Hamilton Avenue in Huntington Beach.
The two-vehicle collision occurred at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 14th, just east of Magnolia Avenue, according to a press release by the Huntington Beach Police Department (HBPD).
Police responded to a traffic collision at Hamilton Avenue and Polynesian Lane between a white Acura MDX and a Yamaha motorcycle.
Investigators determined the motorcyclist was headed eastbound on Hamilton Avenue when a 79-year-old Huntington Beach man in the Acura made a left-hand turn into his path. The westbound Acura turned south onto Polynesian Lane.
The motorcyclist collided into the Acura and went down into the roadway. He suffered major injuries and died on scene, the report said.
Meanwhile, there is an ongoing investigation into the motorcycle accident on Hamilton Avenue, but police do not suspect drugs and or alcohol were a factor in the collision.
