Fatal Huntington Beach Motorcycle Accident on Warner Avenue, Goldenwest Street

Motorcyclist, 24, Killed in Crash on Warner Avenue in Huntington Beach

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (Sept. 28, 2023) — A 24-year-old motorcycle rider died in a Huntington Beach car accident on Warner Avenue near Goldenwest Street.

The deadly crash occurred around 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12th, according to a report by the Huntington Beach Police Department (HBPD).

Police responded to the collision on Warner Avenue, just west of Goldenwest Street and located the drivers of a red 2007 Suzuki SV650 motorcycle and a red 2020 Hyundai IONIQ.

The rider was thrown off his bike and critically injured.

Paramedics transported the young man to a local hospital, but he later died from his injuries.

Meanwhile, the 20-year-old Huntington Beach man who was driving the Hyundai stopped and cooperated with officials.

Investigators believe the motorcyclist was heading westbound on Warner Avenue in the No. 2 lane when the Hyundai pulled out of the eastbound facing left turn pocket on Warner Avenue and turned left or northbound towards a private driveway, police said. The car reportedly pulled out in front of the motorcycle rider and the two vehicles collided.

Investigators with the HBPD Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) are working on the case.

Meanwhile, witnesses or anyone with information about the crash may contact HBPD Traffic Investigator J. Rounds at (714) 536-5666.

According to statistics compiled by the Office of Traffic Safety, there were 74 injury and fatality crashes involving motorcycles in the city of Huntington Beach in 2020. Also, the city ranks first among 61 similar size cities in California for motorcycle collisions involving injuries and deaths.
