Fatal Huntington Beach Pedestrian Accident Warner Avenue and Gothard Street
Man, 68, Killed in Pedestrian Accident in Huntington Beach
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (Jan. 22, 2024) — A 68-year-old Huntington Beach man died in a pedestrian accident Thursday at Warner Avenue and Gothard Street.
The deadly crash occurred at around 6:30 p.m. on January 18, 2024, according to a press release by the Huntington Beach Police Department.
Police responded to the traffic collision involving the pedestrian and a 25-year-old driver in a white Nissan Rogue SUV.
The victim was located unconscious in the roadway and paramedics transported him to a nearby hospital where he later died.
Meanwhile, the Huntington Beach woman who was driving the SUV was uninjured.
“The driver of the Rogue cooperated with investigators, and impairment does not appear to be a factor,” police said. “It is unknown if impairment was a factor with the pedestrian.”
Authorities investigating the crash stated the SUV was heading eastbound on Warner
Avenue when it struck the pedestrian just west of the intersection with Gothard Street.
The HBPD Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is working to determine fault for the fatal Huntington Beach pedestrian accident.
