Deadly Crash on I-5 Freeway in Orange County
IRVINE, Calif. (Oct. 9, 2023) — A fatal multi-vehicle crash in Irvine happened early Monday on the northbound Interstate 5 Freeway, just south of Jamboree Road.
The collision involved as many as five vehicles, including one that became fully engulfed in flames, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP received a 911 call around 3:54 a.m. on Oct. 9th that motorists were blocking several lanes of the freeway after the crash.
The drivers of a black Toyota Corolla, a blue Kia Optima, a light-colored sedan, a white SUV and a fifth vehicles were involved.
Paramedics responded to the scene to help the injured, but unfortunately one person died at the scene.
Police requested a SigAlert as multiple lanes of the freeway were blocked by vehicles and emergency vehicles.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the fatal Irvine crash on the Interstate 5 Freeway.
