Fatal Kearny Mesa Pedestrian Accident on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (July 6, 2026) — A fatal pedestrian accident happened Sunday morning in Kearny Mesa when a van struck a man crossing Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, according to San Diego police.

The 36-year-old man was crossing mid-block on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard near Ruffner Street at 1:20 a.m. on July 5th.

A 42-year-old woman driving a 2010 Volkswagen Routan struck the man in the roadway, police said.

She stopped after the accident and someone called 911 for help, however, the pedestrian died before he was taken to the hospital.
