Woman Killed in La Jolla Pedestrian Accident
SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. (March 22, 2022) — A fatal La Jolla pedestrian accident happened Thursday on the northbound Interstate 5 Freeway near Genesee Avenue.
The crash happened about 11:30 p.m. on St. Patrick’s Day, according to the California Highway Patrol and San Diego Medical Examiner.
The unidentified woman who died was seen by a witness on the shoulder of the I-5 Freeway prior to the crash. Just minutes later, the witness told a CHP dispatcher the person was in the northbound lanes. A driver in the No. 2 lane reportedly hit the woman.
Meanwhile, CHP officers responded to the scene and located the woman. She reportedly died at the scene.
It’s unknown why the woman was in the roadway at this time. Investigators with the CHP are working on the case and will determine fault for the La Jolla pedestrian accident.
