Fatal Labor Day Crash on I-10 Freeway Near SR-78 in Blythe

Deadly Labor Day Crash on Redlands Freeway in Riverside County
BLYTHE, Calif., (Sept. 10, 2026) — Allen Glazer, 62, of Buckeye, Arizona, died in a multi-vehicle crash in Blythe on Labor Day along the eastbound I-10 Freeway, near Neighbours Boulevard (SR-78).
The incident occurred on Sept. 7th at approximately 4:22 p.m. and involved a total of four vehicles. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that two black SUVs sustained major damage and that there were also major injuries. Responding emergency personnel shut down eastbound traffic on I-10 at State Route 78, diverting vehicles to alternative routes, as they attended to the scene.
Tragically, the Arizona man succumbed to his injuries around 5:24 p.m. at the Blythe Airport while in the back of an AMR unit, the Riverside Sheriff’s Coroner Office reports. Careflight 8 airlifted another individual to Desert Regional Medical Center.
Blythe Police Department and other agencies were on the scene managing the emergency response and the subsequent investigation.
Authorities have issued a call for any witnesses who might have observed the collision to come forward with information that might aid the ongoing investigation. The condition of others involved in the crash is still being assessed.
