Man Killed, Woman Injured in Head-on Crash in Ramona
RAMONA, Calif. (Sept. 7, 2023) — James Alvarez, 23, of Ramona, died in a Labor Day crash on state Route 67 near Dos Picos County Park in Ramona.
The fatal head-on crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Sept. 4th, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner.
James Alvarez was driving a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta on state Route 67 when he veered across the double yellow lines into the path of a southbound 2019 Toyota Camry, the California Highway Patrol reports.
The two vehicles crashed head-on and James Alvarez died at the scene, the coroner said.
Paramedics rushed a 20-year-old Ramona woman from the Toyota to Palomar Medical Center for treatment of her undisclosed injuries, the Times of San Diego reports.
The case remains under investigation by the CHP.
