
Bicycle Rider Struck, Killed in Laguna Beach
LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. (Oct. 19, 2023) — A man riding a bicycle was killed in a Laguna Beach car accident while riding near Oak Street and Glenneyre Street.
The traffic accident occurred at around 6:53 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, according to the Laguna Beach Police Department.
A driver reportedly struck a man riding his bike due to unknown circumstances.
Firefighters responded to the scene and located an adult male bicyclist with major injuries. The man was carrying a small dog in the front basket of his bike, the report said.
The bicyclist sustained critical injuries and was transported to a local trauma center. He later died from his injuries at the hospital, the report said. The Orange County Sheriff’s Coroner Division has not released his name at this time.
Meanwhile, the small terrier dog was transported to a local animal hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The driver involved stopped and cooperated with the investigation. Authorities do not suspect drugs and or alcohol were a factor.
The Laguna Beach Police Department is working on the case to determine fault.
