Fatal Rollover Crash at Lancaster Intersection
LANCASTER, Calif. (Oct. 7, 2022) — A fatal Lancaster crash happened Friday morning at East Avenue J and 140th Street East.
One person is dead and two were injured in the two-vehicle crash about 7:08 a.m. on Oct. 7th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Kimberly Newell, 43, of Helendale, was driving a white 2010 Nissan Frontier pickup truck that on 140th Street. Meanwhile, Frank Garcia, 31, of Apple Valley, was traveling on Avenue J in a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. He allegedly failed to stop at the intersection, police said. The Nissan crashed into the Silverado, killing the driver and injuring two other occupants from Apple Valley, according to the AV Times. The Silverado apparently overturned onto its roof during the collision. The Frontier suffered major front-end damage.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to help those hurt in the Lancaster crash including Kimberly Newell, but the driver of the Chevrolet died at the scene.
The passengers from the Chevrolet included 19-year-old Juan Rocha-Ureno and 24-year-old Salvador Garcia Jr. Paramedics transported Juan Rocha-Ureno to Antelope Valley Hospital for treatment of major injuries. Meanwhile, Salvador Garcia Jr. did not report any injuries.
Tow trucks removed both of the vehicles from the roadway.
Finally, investigators are working on the case to determine fault.
