Bicyclist Hit by Pickup Truck on Seventh Street
LONG BEACH Calif. (August 2, 2018) – A 35-year-old Long Beach man riding a bicycle was struck by a pickup truck and killed Thursday morning at Seventh Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Long Beach police said.
The man riding a bicycle reportedly came out of Gumbiner Park, just west of Alamitos Avenue and then crossed northbound through Seventh Street and got struck by a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.
The collision took place about 6:40 a.m. Paramedics transported the injured man to a hospital where he later died of his injuries.
The Long Beach Police Department is heading up the investigation. Witnesses at the scene told authorities that the pickup truck had the green light at the time of the collision. The 41-year-old driver of the pickup stopped and cooperated with police.

At this time, we do not know who had the right-of-way in the roadway. There are certainly many unanswered questions about what led to the crash and who is liable.
