Man Killed in Crash in Long Beach Identified
LONG BEACH, Calif. (Dec. 2, 2024) – Sovan Koy, 35, died in a Long Beach car accident Tuesday morning at Wardlow Road and Palo Verde Avenue.
The traffic accident occurred at around 7:35 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26th, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The collision involved the driver of a 2002 Toyota Sequoia SUV and a 2014 Toyota Tundra pickup truck, police said.
Sovan Koy was traveling eastbound in the Sequoia on Wardlow Road when the motorist allegedly drove through a red light at Palo Verde Avenue, the report said.
At the same time, a driver in the southbound Tundra pickup truck entered the intersection on a green light and the vehicles collided.
Police reported the SUV overturned and its driver was ejected from the vehicle. Unfortunately, the motorist suffered major injuries and died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the driver from the pickup truck stopped and cooperated with investigators.
Authorities are working on the case to determine if speed and distracted driving are factors in the collision.
