Pedestrian Killed During 2-Vehicle Crash on PCH in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, Calif. (Nov. 14, 2023) — A fatal, two-vehicle crash left a pedestrian dead and a car split in half on Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) Monday night in Long Beach.
The deadly crash between a silver car and a white car occurred just before 6 p.m. near a 7-Eleven store, according to the Long Beach Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to the scene near the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, according to KABC 7 News Los Angeles.
Authorities reported speed was likely a factor in the crash as one of the vehicles was ripped in half and a bus bench was mowed over on the sidewalk. The bench wound up in the parking lot of the 7-11 store. The man who died was at the bus stop and sustained fatal injuries at the scene. The pedestrian has not been identified at this time.
Meanwhile, a male driver was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and the female driver was treated by paramedics at the scene.
Police believe that speed was a factor in the fatal Long Beach crash, but the cause remains under investigation.
Finally, it’s unknown if any criminal charges will be filed against either of the motorists.
