Fatal Long Beach Hit-and-Run Crash on Atlantic Avenue at 6th Street

Two Killed, Three Injured in Violent Collision

LONG BEACH, Calif. (Jan. 5, 2026) — Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver involved in a violent crash Sunday night that left two people dead and three others injured at Atlantic Avenue and East 6th Street in Long Beach.

The three-vehicle collision was reported on Jan. 4th just before 10:15 p.m. at the Long Beach intersection, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Investigators believe the suspect’s vehicle was traveling eastbound on East 6th Street at a high rate of speed when they allegedly ran a red light and struck two southbound vehicles on Atlantic Avenue. One of the vehicles overturned, and two people were ejected. The suspect then exited his vehicle and fled on foot.

Arriving officers provided medical aid to five adult victims until paramedics arrived. A man and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The three remaining victims were taken to a local hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Meanwhile, the driver suspected of causing the crash was reportedly driving a stolen vehicle.
