Motorcyclist Killed on Long Beach Street
LONG BEACH, Calif. (Oct. 25, 2021) – A fatal Long Beach motorcycle crash happened Sunday afternoon at Cherry Avenue and Bixby Road.
A 25-year-old Long Beach man died in a collision with an SUV at the intersection, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The two-vehicle crash happened about 4:40 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 24th at the Long Beach intersection, police said. The motorcycle rider’s name is being withheld until family members are notified.
Investigators say the crash took place as the Suzuki motorcycle headed southbound on Cherry Avenue. At the same time, a 55-year-old Long Beach man driving a black Nissan Rogue was traveling northbound on Cherry Avenue. As the car made a westbound turn onto Bixby Road, the motorcycle rider failed to stop at the stop sign. The two vehicles collided in the intersection, police said in a statement.
Additionally, the unidentified Nissan driver stopped and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
Also, the preliminary investigation determined that distracted driving and or impaired driving are not factors in the collision, police said. The investigation into liability for the crash is ongoing.
