Woman Killed in Pedestrian Accident on PCH in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, Calif. (August 4, 2022) — A woman died in the hospital several days after being severely injured in a pedestrian accident on Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach.
The victim was reportedly struck by a driver in a 2005 Dodge Durango SUV, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The collision occurred about 10:10 p.m. on July 30th, as she allegedly walked southbound across PCH near River Avenue outside of a crosswalk, the report said. A Compton man driving the Dodge SUV struck the woman as he drove westbound on PCH.
She suffered major injuries in the traffic accident. Paramedics responded and rushed her to a hospital, but police were told on Wednesday, Aug. 3rd that she died in the hospital.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office will release her name after relatives are notified.
The motorist stopped and helped the injured woman following the collision and remained on scene where investigators say he cooperated.
Police do not suspect speed or distracted driving are factors in the Long Beach pedestrian accident at this time.
