 Fatal Long Beach Pedestrian Accident Pacific Coast Highway, Gaviota Avenue

Man Struck, Killed in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, Calif. (March 23, 2023) – A fatal pedestrian accident happened early Thursday on Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach.

The collision occurred around 12:30 a.m. on March 23rd, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Paramedics responded to the crash scene, just east of Gaviota Avenue.

The Long Beach Police Department reported they located the injured man and paramedics transported him by ambulance to a hospital where he later died. His age and identity was not released.

Investigators believe the man ran in a southbound direction across PCH and was outside of any marked crosswalks when an eastbound 2007 Toyota Camry hit him. The 19-year-old driver from Signal Hill stopped and was questioned by police.

Authorities do not suspect speed, alcohol, drugs or distracted driving were a factor in the Long Beach pedestrian accident.
