Man Struck, Killed in Long Beach Car Accident
LONG BEACH, Calif. (March 30, 2022) – A fatal Long Beach pedestrian accident on Pacific Coast Highway happened Wednesday morning at Rose Avenue near Chittick Field.
A driver in a 2019 Jeep struck a man attempting to cross PCH outside of a crosswalk, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The collision occurred about 8:05 a.m. at the Long Beach intersection, police said.
Long Beach Police Department officers responded to Pacific Coast Highway and Rose Avenue.
Long Beach Fire Department paramedics were also at the scene. They transported the injured man to a hospital, but he later died of his injuries. His name is withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Jeep stopped and cooperated with the investigation. Preliminary facts indicate that distracted driving, impaired driving and speed are not factors in the collision.
