Woman Killed in Hit-and-run Crash in Merced
MERCED, Calif. (Sept. 6, 2023) – A fatal Merced pedestrian accident happened early Wednesday on R Street between Buena Vista and Loughborough Drive.
The hit-and-run crash occurred around 5:21 a.m. on Sept. 6th, according to the Merced Police Department. Bystanders found the woman injured in the roadway and called police.
Police responded and began to investigate what happened. They determined a southbound motorist struck a woman in the roadway due to unknown circumstances, according to a report by the Merced Sun Star. The driver failed to stop and help the woman. Also, she was in an area where there are no marked crosswalks.
Paramedics responded and performed life-saving measures on the victim, but she died at the scene.
Officers responded and closed down the intersection for several hours to investigate the Merced accident on R Street. There is no description of the suspect’s vehicle at this time.
