Fatal Mission Beach Crash Mission Bay Drive and Quivera Road

Motorcycle Rider, Girl in Car Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (May 18, 2023) — A motorcycle rider and a child in a car both died in a two-vehicle crash early Thursday morning in Mission Beach.

The collision occurred around 9 a.m. on May 18th between a Toyota Prius and a motorcyclist at West Mission Bay Drive and Quivera Road, according to the San Diego Union Tribune.

It’s unknown what led up to the two-vehicle collision. The motorcyclist was ejected from his bike and died at the scene.

Meanwhile, firefighters responded and had to cut open the roof of the Prius to free at least one passenger trapped inside. A child riding as a passenger in the Toyota Prius suffered major injuries. She was rushed to a hospital where she also died, police said.

The child was among four children riding with their mother in the Prius. Paramedics also transported four other people including an infant to the hospital, the report said.

The case remains under investigation to determine fault for the fatal Mission Beach crash.
