Woman Killed in Crash on Highway 132 in Modesto
MODESTO, Calif. (June 15, 2022) — A fatal Modesto crash on Highway 132 at Gates Road left an elderly woman dead on Tuesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials responded to the collision just before 8 p.m. on June 15th, according to a report by the Modesto Bee.
The woman, who is believed to be about 80, was driving a red Kia south on Gates Road. She reportedly stopped at a stop sign at Highway 132 before continuing to drive through the intersection at Highway 132.
A westbound motorist traveling on Highway 132 in a gray Kia crashed into the red Kia. Police say that driver did not have a stop sign.
During the impact, the red Kia was pushed off the roadway and into a canal that runs parallel to Gates and Paradise Road.
Sadly, the woman’s red Kia became submerged in the canal. Meanwhile, a bystander managed to pull the woman out of the vehicle just as paramedics arrived on scene.
They rushed the injured woman to a hospital, but she died a short time later. The report did not mention if anyone in the gray Kia suffered injuries in the crash.
Investigators continue to work on the case.
