Fatal Modesto Crash on Mitchell Road, Near Tenaya Drive
Woman, 53, Killed, Three Injured in Modesto Collision
MODESTO, Calif. (May 30, 2025) – A 53-year-old Modesto woman died and two others suffered major injuries early Wednesday in a head-on crash on Mitchell Road, just south of Tenaya Drive near the Modesto City–County Airport.
The crash happened around 5:45 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Modesto woman was driving northbound in a Ford SUV on Mitchell Road when she came upon a curve in the roadway approaching Tenaya Drive. The SUV veered into southbound lanes and crashed head-on into an oncoming 2007 Cadillac SUV.
Two Passengers and Dog Injured in Collision
Police and firefighters from the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District responded and confirmed the driver of the Ford dead at the scene, however, her two passengers survived with major injuries. The passengers, a 34-year-old Hughson woman and a 67-year-old Waterford man, were transported to a hospital. Also, two dogs in the vehicle with them survived and only one was injured.
Driver in Cadillac Survives Head-on Crash
Meanwhile, a 64-year-old Modesto man who was driving the Cadillac was treated at the hospital for minor injuries.
Both vehicles were towed for evidence and had major damage.
The case remains under investigation.
