Man, 59, Killed in Crash on Standiford Avenue in Modesto

MODESTO, Calif. (Oct. 11, 2023) — A 59-year-old man died in a Modesto pedestrian accident on Tuesday night while crossing Standiford Avenue.

The Modesto man was walking in a north direction across Standiford when he was struck by an eastbound Honda Civic, the Modesto Bee reports.

The Modesto Police Department reported the crash occurred at around 10:45 p.m. on Oct. 10th near Sherwood and McHenry avenues.

Paramedics responded and rushed the injured man to the hospital were he died.

Police later arrested the 21-year-old woman driving the vehicle on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence.

The driver, Isabelle Fernandez, 21, of Modesto, was booked at the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center. She is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail, police said.

Investigators are working on the case.
