Moreno Valley Man, 69, Killed in Crash on Box Springs Road
MORENO VALLEY, Calif. (October 11, 2021) — A fatal Moreno Valley pedestrian accident happened Monday morning on Box Springs Road.
A tow truck struck the pedestrian about 7:22 a.m. on Oct. 11th near Clark Street, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department‘s Moreno Valley Station.
Subsequently, police responded to the crash scene on Box Springs Road in the city of Moreno Valley.
Deputies located the injured pedestrian laying in the roadway. Paramedics from CalFire and American Medical Response responded to the scene and rushed the injured pedestrian to a local hospital. Sadly, the man later died at the hospital due to severe injuries.
Additionally, a crash investigation is underway by the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team.
Tow Truck Hits, Kills Man on Box Springs Road
Investigators believe the tow truck exited a nearby apartment complex and was turning left onto eastbound Box Springs Road.
At the same time, the pedestrian was crossing northbound in the roadway from the south curb line outside of any marked crosswalks. The driver told authorities that as the tow truck turned onto Box Springs Road, the driver’s vision was obstructed by sunlight. The tow truck struck the pedestrian as he was walking or standing in the middle of the roadway.
Primitivo Martinez, 69, of Moreno Valley, died in the collision.
Also, police do not believe that drugs and or alcohol were factors in the deadly pedestrian accident.
