Motorcyclist, 61, Killed in Huntington Beach Crash
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (Oct. 31, 2023) — A 61-year-old Costa Mesa man riding a motorcycle died Sunday night in an accident at Magnolia Street and Hamilton Avenue in Huntington Beach.
The deadly crash occurred at around 7 p.m. on Oct. 29th between a blue BMW X3 and a blue Harley-Davidson Softail motorcycle, according to a press release by the Huntington Beach Police Department.
It’s unknown at this time what led up to the two-vehicle traffic accident at this busy Huntington Beach intersection near Edison High School.
Authorities investigating the crash determined the BMW was heading westbound on Hamilton Avenue, while the Harley-Davidson was traveling eastbound on Hamilton Avenue. The man driving the BMW made a left-hand turn towards Magnolia Avenue and crossed into the path of the motorcycle rider. That’s when the two vehicles collided.
The motorcyclist sustained major injuries and died following the crash.
Meanwhile, the 82-year-old Huntington Beach man driving the BMW was uninjured and cooperated with investigators, police said.
The HBPD Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team is heading up the investigation.
Witnesses are asked to contact HBPD Traffic Investigator J. Rounds at 714-536-5666.
