Motorcycle Killed in Crash Involving Pickup Truck

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (May 19, 2025) — A fatal motorcycle accident involving a pickup truck happened early Monday on Highway 43, near Burbank Street in Bakersfield, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The traffic accident occurred at around 3:47 a.m. on May 19th, CHP officials said.

The Bakersfield area CHP responded to the two-vehicle crash on Highway 43 involving a 2025 Honda motorcycle and a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.

The southbound pickup truck was traveling on Highway 43 at about 55 mph when the vehicle collided with the eastbound motorcycle traveling on Burbank Street.

Police are investigating whether the motorcyclist failed to complete a stop before entering Highway 43 and may have drove into the path of the oncoming Chevrolet truck, officials said.

The driver of the Chevrolet attempted to avoid hitting the bike, but crashed into the left side of the motorcycle.

Upon impact, the motorcyclist was thrown off the bike and died at the scene, CHP said. However, the Chevrolet driver was not injured.

The fatal motorcycle accident on Highway 43 remains under investigation.
