Fatal Motorcycle Accident Interstate 5 Freeway in San Onofre
One Killed, One Injured in Crash Between Two Motorcycles
SAN ONOFRE, Calif. (Oct. 9, 2023) — A fatal motorcycle accident happened Sunday morning on the northbound Interstate 5 Freeway in San Onofre in San Diego County.
The deadly crash occurred around 9:20 a.m. on Oct. 8th, near the Orange County/San Diego County border, according to the Times of San Diego.
The California Highway Patrol reported a 20-year-old Oceanside man riding a black Yamaha motorcycle was traveling behind a 22-year-old Oceanside man operating a Honda CBR600 motorcycle.
The younger rider on the Yamaha reportedly rear-ended the Honda and both riders were thrown off their bikes during the collision.
Sadly, the rider on the Yamaha sustained major injuries and died at the scene. Meanwhile, the Honda motorcyclist sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a hospital, the report said.
The name of the person who died was not released, pending notification of their family members.
