Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on State Route 166
KERN COUNTY, Calif. (Nov. 19, 2021) –A fatal motorcycle accident on Marcopa Highway 166 happened Friday near the on ramp to the Interstate 5 Freeway in Mettler, just south of Bakersfield.
The collision happened at 9:53 a.m. on Nov. 19th between a motorcycle rider and a semi-truck near the freeway on ramp to the I-5 Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
It’s unknown what led up to the semi-truck and motorcycle colliding at this time. The rider suffered major injuries in the crash and died soon afterwards at the scene.
Police closed down the freeway on ramp due to the fatal crash, but it reopened at 12:51 p.m., the report said.
Deadly Motorcycle Accident
Meanwhile, authorities requested the Kern County Sheriff Coroner respond.
Investigators seek to determine the cause of the deadly motorcycle accident as well as liability.
