TRACY/LIVERMORE (January 6, 2019) – A motorcyclist was killed after a traffic collision on the 580 Freeway near Grant Line Road Sunday afternoon, according to SF Gate and Pleasanton Weekly.

The accident occurred at about 1:06 p.m., between the cities of Livermore and Tracy.

As per the reports, California Highway Patrol said a 21-year-old Livermore man was riding a motorcycle and splitting lanes on the freeway when for an unknown reason he lost control.

The motorcyclist then collided with an SUV near the Grant Line Road off-ramp. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. CHP believed that the rider was possibly struck by another vehicle shortly after the initial crash.

Meanwhile, the exact cause of the incident remains under investigation.
