Teen Riding Motorcycle Killed in Car Accident on College Drive
SANTA MARIA, Calif. (Oct. 29, 2024) — Mason Rohwedder, 18, died in a motorcycle versus car accident on College Drive at Bradley Road in Santa Maria.
The collision occurred at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24th in front of 2673 S. College Drive, according to a report by Noozhawk.
The young motorcyclist was traveling northbound on College Drive when the other driver failed to yield the right of way and turned left in front of him.
Mason Rohwedder was unable to avoid hitting the driver’s side of the vehicle and crashed his bike, leaving him with major injuries.
Paramedics rushed the motorcyclist to Marian Regional Medical Center, but unfortunately, he later died at the hospital.
Finally, the Santa Maria Police Department’s Traffic Bureau is heading up the investigation into the fatal collision and asking witnesses to contact Officer Matthew Jensen at 805.928,3781, ext. 1233.
The family has a GoFundMe, and a Change.org petition, along with a memorial set up in front of the Santa Maria Fire Station No. 4 dedicated to the young man. He was an accomplished baseball player, a freshman at Cuesta College, and graduated this year from Orcutt Academy High School.
