Fatal Motorcycle Accident on Highway 247, Acoma Trail in Homestead Valley

MORONGO BASIN, Calif., (Sept. 10, 2026) — A tragic collision involving a vehicle and a motorcycle resulted in a fatality on Highway 247 at Acoma Trail on Thursday afternoon in the Homestead Valley.

The incident occurred on Sept. 10th at approximately 1:12 p.m. in the Morongo Basin area, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash involved a vehicle colliding with a motorcycle, leaving a male motorcyclist on the ground and the motorcycle off the roadway.

Emergency responders were promptly assigned and arrived at the scene by 1:29 p.m. Initially categorized as a traffic collision with major injuries, the situation’s severity escalated, and by 3:44 p.m., the California Highway Patrol (CHP) updated the incident to a fatality.

The identity of the deceased has not been released as authorities are notifying next of kin. Yucca Valley Towing was requested to assist with the recovery of the motorcycle involved.

The investigation into the cause and circumstances of the collision is ongoing, with police appealing for any witnesses to come forward with information that could aid in their inquiries.
