Woman Killed in Motorcycle Crash Involving Hit-and-run Driver
SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. (Oct. 23, 2023) — A driver rear-ended a motorcycle in a fatal accident on West Hills Parkway in the Tierrasanta area of San Diego County.
The 65-year-old man riding the Harley-Davidson motorcycle suffered injuries, but his 68-year-old female passenger died in the crash around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21st, the Times of San Diego reported. It happened in the 8400 block of West Hills Parkway.
The 33-year-old man driving the Honda Accord was traveling southbound in the No. 1 lane of West Hills Parkway, the report said. For unknown reasons, the car merged into the No. 2 lane and rear-ended the bike occupied by the man and woman.
Both the man and woman were taken to a hospital where she later died and he was treated for abrasions.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Honda continued traveling southbound and failed to stop after the collision. The San Diego Police Department reportedly located the abandoned Honda just a short distance from the crash scene.
Investigators believe that alcohol and or drugs could have been a factor in the collision, but that has not yet been confirmed.
