Fatal Motorcycle Crash Byron Highway, Bruns Way, Contra Costa County
BYRON, Calif., (July 24, 2026) — A tragic collision involving a motorcycle and a vehicle resulted in a fatality early Friday morning on Byron Highway near North Bruns Way in Byron.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:15 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash involved a motorcycle and a vehicle, reportedly a Chevrolet Camaro, on the southbound lane of Byron Highway. The force of the impact caused the motorcyclist to be ejected from the vehicle, landing on the side of the roadway. Emergency responders were called to the scene, and the southbound lane was closed for approximately 45 minutes due to the incident.
Victim and Emergency Response
Upon arrival, paramedics and law enforcement officials found the motorcyclist critically injured. Despite their efforts, the individual succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed pending notification of the next of kin.
The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office was notified for coroner services. Authorities issued a SigAlert to inform the public about the temporary closure of the southbound lane and advised motorists to use alternative routes.
