Fatal Motorcycle Crash on US 101 South, Near University Avenue Onramp

EAST PALO ALTO, Calif., (August 20, 2026) — A fatal motorcycle crash happened early Thursday on the southbound US 101, just south of University Avenue in East Palo Alto.

The incident occurred on August 20th at approximately 6:05 AM, when a motorcyclist reportedly went down in the slow lane, blocking traffic, the California Highway Patrol reported. Emergency responders were dispatched shortly after, with units arriving at the scene by 6:12 AM. The crash involved a motorcycle and possibly another vehicle, described as a black Infiniti, that had pulled to the right-hand shoulder.

The motorcyclist was found with severe injuries, lying in the slow lane. Despite the rapid response from emergency personnel, the rider succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The identity of the deceased rider has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances that led to this fatal collision. They are urging anyone who may have witnessed the events leading up to the crash, or who has any information about the black Infiniti, to come forward.
