Motorcyclist Killed in Collision with Car in Bell Gardens
BELL GARDENS, Calif. (Nov. 22, 2024) – A motorcycle rider died Thursday in a car accident on the southbound Long Beach (710) Freeway near the Clara Street Bridge in Bell Gardens.
The traffic accident occurred around 5:20 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21st, between the Florence Avenue and Firestone Boulevard off-ramps, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The motorcyclist and a 4-door car collided due to unknown circumstances. The rider was thrown off the bike and became trapped underneath the other vehicle. Bystanders and a CHP motorcycle cop stopped and came to help the rider who suffered major injuries.
Paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded and freed the rider before taking the person to a hospital where they were pronounced dead, according to the CHP.
The identity of the motorcycle rider will be released after his or her family are notified.
Police closed down the southbound Nos. 1, 2, and 3 lanes due to the crash and CHP officers directed traffic off at the Florence Avenue exit.
