Motorcyclist Killed in Car Crash on Pepper Drive
SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. (Dec. 14, 2020) — A 32-year-old El Cajon man riding a motorcycle was killed om a crash on Pepper Drive in the Bostonia community, just north of El Cajon.
Additionally, police reported the driver of the other vehicle involved was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
The fatal motorcycle crash was reported at 7:07 a.m. at Garywood Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The motorcyclist collided with a vehicle driven by Pamela Gilmore, 59, of Santee. Gilmore was driving a black 2011 Kia Sportage northbound on Plumeria Drive. She reportedly turned westbound towards Pepper Drive and collided with the eastbound 2005 Suzuki GSXR 1000 motorcycle. The bike crashed into the driver’s side of the Kia. The motorcycle rider was thrown off the bike into the roadway.
Sadly, the motorcyclist suffered major injuries and died at the scene. The name of the victim has not been released at this time, pending notification of his family.
Pamela Gilmore Arrested DUI, Manslaughter
Meanwhile, Gilmore had minor injuries and her 83-year-old passenger was unharmed. Furthermore, police determined that Gilmore was under the influence of drugs and alcohol. She was arrested and booked at Los Colinas Women’s Detention Facility and faces charges of felony DUI causing injury and gross vehicular manslaughter. She is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail, police said.
Finally, both vehicles involved in the crash were towed from the scene for evidence.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the crash.
