BLUE LAKE, Calif. (Oct. 19, 2022) — A motorcycle rider died in a crash with a logging truck on Highway 299 near Blue Lake on Tuesday afternoon.

The collision occurred about 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 18th, leading to the closure of the roadway for several hours, according to KRCR and the California Highway Patrol.

The motorcycle rider was traveling westbound on State Route 299 when for unknown reasons the bike collided with an eastbound logging truck, police said.

CHP officials reported the motorcycle driver died in the crash.

Investigators are working on the case, but do not suspect alcohol or drugs are factors.

Authorities will piece together evidence to determine fault for the crash.
