Father, 2 Children Killed; Child, 6, Injured in 91 Freeway Crash
CERRITOS, Calif. (July 11, 2018) — Lavell Mann, 33, his 9-month-old boy Legend and his daughter Logan, 3, all died early Wednesday morning in a collision on the eastbound 91 Freeway, just west of Pioneer Boulevard, a California Highway Patrol report said.
The CHP report stated that Lavell Mann was driving a red Jeep and rear-ended a gasoline tanker truck at high speed just after midnight. The Jeep landed upside down in the HOV lane and was struck by an oncoming black BMW.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene to help those hurt, but sadly all three inside the Jeep died in the collision. A 6-year-old child who was in the BMW was hospitalized with moderate injuries.
Police issued a SigAlert for the collision was issued at 12:37 a.m. due to all traffic lanes being temporarily blocked.
Traffic Accident Investigation
At this time, it appears that Mr. Mann was responsible for this horrible crash. A full investigation, however, is underway by police to figure out what led to the crash.
