1 Killed, 6 Injured in 4-Vehicle Collision
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (July 25, 2023) – A fatal chain-reaction crash left a woman dead and six others injured at Highway 41 and East Elkhorn Avenue in Fresno County.
The deadly collision occurred around 12:45 p.m. on Monday, July 24th, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch.
A driver in a commercial truck pulling a trailer was traveling southbound on Highway 41. The driver of the Ford F-450 truck apparently didn’t notice that traffic ahead of him was stopped. The truck reportedly rear-ended a Toyota, pushing it into a Chevrolet and a semi-truck. The three vehicles were all stopped at a traffic light at the intersection.
A woman riding as a passenger in the Toyota suffered fatal injuries. The driver of the car had minor injuries and a child was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries. Several occupants of the Chevrolet were also hurt.
Paramedics responded and rushed a total of six people to hospitals for various injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
