Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash Highway 99, Harney Lane in Lodi, CA

Two Killed in Crash Involving Semi-Truck on SR-99 | DUI Suspect Manvir Singh Arrested

Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash Highway 99, Harney Lane in Lodi, CA

LODI, Calif., (May 19, 2026) — A teenager and 20-year-old are dead after a multi-vehicle collision on State Route 99 or Highway 99 near the Harney Lane off-ramp on Tuesday afternoon in the Lodi area.

The fatal incident occurred on May 19th shortly after 12:20 p.m. in the northbound lanes of SR-99, causing significant traffic disruption, according to the California Highway Patrol Stockton. The crash involved a white semi-truck and three additional vehicles, including a black small sedan, a gray small vehicle, and a black Nissan. Witnesses reported the collision blocked multiple lanes, resulting in a hard closure of the Harney Lane offramp and two to three lanes of traffic.

Emergency responders, including the Stockton Fire Department and local law enforcement, arrived promptly at the scene. Initial reports indicated that screaming could be heard in the background during open-line emergency calls, underscoring the severity of the situation. The San Joaquin Sheriff’s Office was notified, and the coroner was called to the scene at approximately 1:10 p.m. Two people were confirmed dead.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved, but the victims who died were aged 16 and 20 years old. The mother of the two young people was injured, along with two other people, including one with a fractured spine and another with a fractured hand. However, a 24-year-old man driving one of the vehicles reportedly fled the scene. Manvir Singh was later arrested for DUI, hit-and-run, and felony vehicular manslaughter charges. The incident led to the deployment of drones by the San Joaquin Sheriff’s Office to assist with the perimeter and investigation.

The driver was arrested and held in jail in lieu of $400,000 bail, but his bail was later revoked. It was determined that Singh was born in India and entered the United States illegally in 2023, and the Department of Homeland Security requested an ICE hold. However, the man’s attorney stated he has a valid California commercial truck license.

The California Highway Patrol and local law enforcement are actively investigating the cause of the crash. They are urging any witnesses or individuals with information to come forward as they work to piece together the events leading up to this tragic event.
