Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-580 Freeway, Near Livermore Avenue

Deadly Rollover Crash Involving Suspected Wrong-Way Driver

LIVERMORE, Calif., (April 30, 2026) — A tragic three-vehicle collision resulted in a fatality early Thursday morning on Interstate 580 East, just east of North Livermore Avenue.

The incident occurred around 6:58 a.m., involving a gray Toyota Tundra, a gray Nissan, and a semi-truck whose driver fled the scene. According to the California Highway Patrol, the Toyota Tundra reportedly rolled over nearly a dozen times before coming to rest on top of a guardrail. The semi-truck was reportedly not carrying any load at the time of the crash.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after, and all lanes were temporarily blocked to clear debris and provide aid. The person who died was in the Toyota Tundra pickup truck, but their identity has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.

At least one other person from a car hit head-on by the pickup truck was taken to a hospital.

Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances leading up to this tragic event. They are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward with information that could assist in the investigation.
