One Killed in 4-Vehicle Collision on the I-80 Freeway in Solano County
VALLEJO, Calif. (Dec. 10, 2024) — One person is dead following a four-vehicle crash in Vallejo on the eastbound Interstate 80 Freeway, just west of the American Canyon Road off ramp.
The traffic collision occurred due to unknown circumstances at around 5:13 a.m. on Dec. 10th, in Solano County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported the drivers of a gray Honda Accord, a white Subaru Crosstrek, a white Audi SUV, and a gold sedan were involved.
Police and paramedics responded and located the gold car facing in the wrong direction in the fast lane and another vehicle sideways in the middle lane. The Audi reportedly crashed into the blacked-out vehicle and an unresponsive man was found trapped in one of the cars with no pulse. Further up from the crash scene they reported the Subaru had a driver with complaints of pain, but didn’t require an ambulance.
Authorities closed down the Nos. 1, 2, and 3 lanes of the freeway due to the crash and issued a SigAlert.
The Solano County Sheriff-Coroner responded and will identity the victim after relatives are notified of the person’s death.
Meanwhile, investigators are working to determine fault for the fatal Vallejo crash on the Interstate 80 Freeway.
Finally, tow trucks removed the Honda and at least one other vehicle from the crash scene.
