Driver Killed, 2 Injured In Newport Beach Crash on PCH
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (Nov. 21, 2022) – A fatal Newport Beach crash happened Sunday night on Pacific Coast Highway near Hoag Drive.
One person is dead, two were critically injured after a car crashed into the the back of a parked Enterprise box truck on PCH between Hoag and Riverside drives.
The occurred shortly after 8 p.m. at 3334 West Pacific Coast Highway, according to the Newport Beach Fire Department.
The driver of a gray Mercedes Benz was traveling with two passengers when for unknown reasons they collided with the truck parked on the roadway. The male driver suffered fatal injuries, but his male and female passengers survived with major injuries. Firefighters extricated the passengers and they were transported to Mission Hospital.
Authorities closed down all westbound lanes of PCH between Hoag and Riverside drives due to the 4-hour investigation.
Investigators continue to work on the case. It’s unknown if the truck was parked legally and if speed or impaired driver are factors in the crash.
