Man, 25, Killed After Series of Collisions on I-15 Freeway
NORCO, Calif. (Sept. 24, 2024) — A 25-year-old man died when a horse smashed through a car windshield Sunday during a crash on the Interstate 15 Freeway in Norco.
The young man was traveling in the front passenger seat of a gray Honda Accord when the vehicle struck a horse in northbound traffic lanes.
The animal had been riding in a horse trailer towed by a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck when the driver veered to the right and hit a guardrail, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The trailer split open and the horse escaped onto the freeway where the animal attempted to cross traffic lanes. At the same time, a semi-truck reportedly crashed into the disabled horse trailer.
Meanwhile, an oncoming black Honda clipped the horse, followed by a gray Honda Accord. The horse went through the windshield of the gray Honda and the man in the front seat was killed.
The 27-year-old man driving the gray Honda was treated for minor injuries.
The horse also suffered fatal injuries.
The case remains under investigation and police are working to find out what caused the Toyota towing the horse trailer to initially crash.
