Deadly Crash on Watt Avenue in North Highlands
NORTH HIGHLANDS, Calif. (Jan. 22, 2024) — A fatal crash happened Monday morning at Watt Avenue and Winona Way in North Highlands.
The multi-vehicle car accident occurred at around 11:35 a.m. on Jan. 22nd, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported two people became trapped inside at least one of the vehicles following the crash and the cars were blocking both northbound and southbound lanes on Watt Avenue.
Firefighters and paramedics responded to extricate those trapped and help those injured in the collision. However, the CHP reported at least one person died on scene. Later authorities say it was the 35-year-old man who was fleeing police who died at the scene. His female passenger was hospitalized with serious injuries.
Meanwhile, tow trucks removed the damaged vehicles from the accident scene in North Highlands.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the North Highlands crash on Watt Avenue.
