Man in Custody Following Fatal Traffic Crash in North Hills
NORTH HILLS, Calif. (March 3, 2022) – Manuel Sandoval, 26, of Canoga Park, was arrested on DUI charges following a fatal North Hills crash at Woodley Avenue and Parthenia Street.
The driver was allegedly driving while impaired and ran through a red light at the North Hills intersection.
The deadly, traffic accident happened about 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 2nd, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Sandoval was driving a 1999 Chevrolet pickup and allegedly speeding as he traveled southbound on Woodley Avenue. Upon reaching the red traffic light, he allegedly failed to stop and crashed into a white Nissan sedan, police said.
A woman in her mid-30s was driving the Nissan and turning left from Woodley Avenue onto westbound Parthenia Street. During the collision, both of the vehicles veered in a southwest direction. The Chevrolet pickup truck overturned and the Nissan went up onto a sidewalk and hit a light pole.
Paramedics transported the woman driving the Nissan to a hospital where she later died.
Meanwhile, Manuel Sandoval suffered undisclosed injuries in the crash and was also taken to a hospital where he is in police custody. Police intend to book Sandoval on suspicion of murder.
