Man Hit by Pickup Truck, Killed in Crash on Victory Boulevard
NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (Feb. 26, 2018) – A pickup truck struck and killed a man in his 60s who was allegedly jaywalking across Victory Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The collision took place Sunday night, just east of Laurel Canyon
Boulevard and near Agnes Avenue, the LAPD said.
The victim was struck by a Dodge Dakota that was headed eastbound on Victory. The driver told police the man stepped out in front of his vehicle and was not in a crosswalk.
Fatal Accident Investigation
The man died of his injuries at the scene of the collision. A full investigation into liability for this collision is underway by police to determine fault.
It’s important to note that pedestrians have the right-of-way in the roadway, even if they are not in a crosswalk. A driver must yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian and liability may also be shared by both the pedestrian and the motorist in some cases.
