2 Killed in Head-on Collision; Driver Arrested Suspicion of DUI
OAKDALE, Calif. (May 19, 2021) — A fatal Oakdale crash left a man and woman dead Tuesday night after a suspected drunk driver collided with them at Orange Blossom and Lancaster roads.
Also, the head-on collision happened about 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18th, just east of Oakdale. Three other people suffered injuries in the collision, according to the Modesto Bee.
A southbound Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by Jesus Perez, 23, of Oakdale, allegedly drifted into opposing traffic and crashed into a northbound Chevrolet Tahoe SUV, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Two people from Oakdale who were in the Chevrolet Tahoe died in the fatal Oakdale crash. The victims were the 78-year-old man driving the SUV and his passenger, a 76-year-old woman.
Furthermore, the pair were both pronounced dead at the scene. Police did not release the victim’s names pending notification of their relatives.
Jesus Perez Arrested on DUI Charges
Meanwhile, both Perez and one of his passengers suffered major injuries in the fatal Oakdale crash. Also, a second passenger in the pickup truck had minor injuries.
Police investigating the collision suspect that Perez was under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
