Two-Vehicle Oakland Crash at 14th Street and Polar Street
OAKLAND, Calif. (August 18, 2022) — A fatal Oakland crash happened Wednesday night at 14th Street and Poplar Street.
The crash occurred about 6:10 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17th, according to East Bay Times.
An 83-year-old Oakland man died in the two-vehicle collision in West Oakland.
The elderly man was reportedly driving a 1996 Saturn SL as he traveled eastbound in the 1300 block of 14th Street. When he reached Poplar Street, he attempted to make a northbound turn and was hit broadside by a westbound driver in a 2013 Audi Q5.
The Saturn got pushed up onto the curb and against a fence. The elderly man suffered major injuries and died at the scene.
Meanwhile, authorities are searching for the suspect who fled the scene without stopping to help the man.
Investigators continue to work on the case.
